San Ramon "Smart Growth" General Plan and EIR
San Ramon voters adopted Measure G to: (1) Draft a new General Plan, with urban growth boundaries, and encourage smart growth by promoting infill development and mixed uses, and (2) Prepare and recommend a plan for the acquisition of ridgeline areas and agricultural lands contiguous to the city to be preserved for open space purposes in perpetuity. The plan was presented to voters and ratified by a 77% majority. Outreach included newsletters, community meetings, property owner “open houses”, workshops, design charettes, and cable TV call-in shows.
